Wanderlust

"Wanderlust"
Talisman Necklace

This is the moment my metalworking journey started... Upon completion of this piece, and the feeling of accomplishment that came with it, I knew there was no going back.

This pendant was based on a calling of a road trip out west.  We'd never visited the coast before and we were trekking it in my van with a futon mattress in the back — "dirtbags" on the road.  A best friend, Adam, and I set out for a week of adventure during our Spring break at college, 2012, and our eyes were open to aliens and RV Parks, the Grand Canyon, and we did little but stay present and lucid with the adventure and ride of our lifetime so far at that point...

On the road and soaking up the beauty of the Earth is where I feel alive and most myself.  It is my aim to capture and translate that natural beauty into tangible, wearable adornment, to keep the moments we treasure in nature like time capsules for honoring that sacred space inside our hearts.

Each piece of this pendant was hand cut in brass and assembled, and as if this were a topographical map, there are symbols used to signify the landmarks we came upon during our trip.

The Grand Canyon, the Rocky Mountains, pine trees and the Pacific coast are all represented by holes, winding edges, and pointed brass studs. The turquoise stones and backside of the piece represent the rich hues and boundless nature of the Pacific Ocean.

This piece is a Liz Fisher Designs original and was designed, handcrafted and finished in the Spring of 2012.
